Ad Altare Dei
2000 - 2001

Here are a few pictures of the nine Scouts from Troop 751 that received their Ad Altare Dei medal in 2001.

The 12th point of the Scout Law is "A Scout is Reverent." The Ad Altare Dei Emblem offers Scouts a unique opportunity to examine the Catholic faith. The purpose of the Ad Altare Dei program is to help Catholic Scouts of the Roman Rite develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community. The program is organized in chapters based on the seven Sacraments.

Each year Troop 751 offers the Ad Altare Dei class to all Catholic Scouts age 13 or over and who have completed the 6th grade, regardless of rank. This is a 6 month program which meets every other Sunday evening for 90 minutes. We review each Sacrament and apply the lessons learned to both our daily lives and our lives within Scouting. The program begins in late August and runs through the end of December. Scouts completing the program receive the purple religious knot at the Scout Sunday Mass at St. Joseph in January and then receive the medal at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis on the afternoon of Scout Sunday.
